It is in line 12 that I found another interesting use of written pause, with- â€Å"Are strange – nay, rather, stranger than the rest.† –This creates a very conversational tone, and gives us the impression that they are confiding with us, or maybe talking to themselves and that we are listening in on something personal, the way they correct themselves half way through a sentence/ line. It also draws us back to the feeling of total honesty, as they are not perfecting their speech, just saying how they feel at that moment. I found I Am to be fairly modern in comparison to other Romantic works of that era, and I believe the reason behind this is that Clare doesn’t limit himself and his work here by keeping strictly to certain methods of rhyme or line endings; for example the first stanza is 6 lines worth of alternating couplets, one couplet of which doesn’t even completely rhyme in terms of sound; ‘lost’ (end of line 2) and ‘host’ (end of line 4). This is more consonance than rhyme. The other two stanzas then go on in a ‘Venus and Adonis’ style with line ending s

Contributions of Rome Free Essays

â€Å"All roads lead to Rome. † This quote holds much truth as what Rome has left to Western Civilization is brought to light. The Roman made countless contributions to Western Civilization, but a few are the most significant of all. We will write a custom essay sample on Contributions of Rome or any similar topic only for you Order Now Rome, the most important civilization to the Western World, left a great legacy, paving the road for the spread of Christianity, forming the basis for republic, and allowing for a widespread diffusion of culture. Though not Rome’s intention, it allowed Christianity to spread and flourish throughout Western Civilization. Rome, unified under one government, made possible the passing of information very quickly, thus greatly assisting the spread of Christianity. Even in the wake of persecution from such rulers as Diocletian and Maximian, Christianity continued to grow in strength. People were converted daily to this attracting faith. Men like St. Paul, who before becoming a Christian was a heavy persecutor of them, fervently preached the growing faith, adding more to their numbers. In addition, the cold religion of the Romans made Christianity extremely appealing, as Christianity offered a personal relationship with a deity who offered an everlasting life of beatitude after death. With the weakening government of Rome, the Christian church began to seize the power that the state lost, allowing more and more converts to be won over to the faith. Also, with the rise of the ruler, Constantine, who made Christianity legal, Christianity took the upper hand as Christian laws were passed and enforced. During Rome’s reign, the spread of Christianity flourished, making way for Christianity to evolve from a small following of people to an accepted faith of multitudes. This incredible, though unintentional, contribution forever changed the course of history. The Roman Republic left a form of government similar to the democracy of Greece but with the ability to govern large bodies of people. Rome used a representation method, where senators represented groups of people, allowing for a democracy encompassing a very large population. Developed after the expulsion of the last Etruscan king, Tarqin the proud, this government was meant to prevent the development of a hereditary monarchy and did so until the rise of Augustus. It contained checks and balances to ensure that power was not too highly concentrated, much as the government in the United States of America is today. Unfortunately, the Roman Republic did not last throughout all of Rome’s glory due to civil unrest, but it did leave an incredible form of government for the rest of humanity to mimic. This form of government would later prove vital to the structure of the government of the United States of America and many other countries. The republic gave the peoples of a large population a say in political issues, leaving a priceless gift to the Western World. Rome’s magnificent size and its unified nature allowed for the spreading of ideas throughout Western Civilization. Because of this unification of Rome, information moved like it had never before. Rome was a melting pot of cultures and customs, bringing together countless ideas to a place where these ideas could quickly be passed around like never before in history. Ideas ran rampant through the Roman Empire, mixing cultures and societies. The military fronts of the Roman Empire formed new cities, furthering cultural diffusion by Romanizing much of the Roman front, therefore leaving a permanent Roman mark. Many barbarian peoples came under the great influence of Rome, which in turn, was passed from generation to generation. Rome left an indelible mark on the Western World through its grandeur and unification. Surely, Rome has had the greatest influence on Western Civilization of all previous civilizations, leaving priceless gifts that should not be forgotten. Rome left cultures, customs, government, politics, and religion, contributions that to this day have greatly influenced Western Civilization. As Rome expanded on the ideas of the past and bettered them, so should the people of this world expand and elaborate on Rome’s genius. How to cite Contributions of Rome, Papers

Portfolio Reimagine the Future for Entrepreneurs

Question: Discuss about the Portfolio Reimagine the Future for Entrepreneurs. Answer: Panel discussion: Social innovation Corporates Perspective Ehon Chans perspective regarding the importance and condition of social innovation from the point of corporate view has been identified to be one of the most significant discussions. I found it distinctly relevant considering the fact that social innovation in the current scenario is indicative of improving the disappointing condition of the local communities. I have come across one of the most vital fact that is stated by the vice president of social entrepreneurship, which says that social innovation is progressing through the enthusiasm of the young people for working in social enterprises. I have come to know the fact that near about one-third amount of the social entrepreneurs are belonging to the young section of the society. It is fortunate to know that the present government is being supportive towards for the movement of social enterprise in terms of progressing social innovation. In terms of fostering social innovation through corporal acts, the social enterprises are runni ng Ted-style talks, program of rural outreach and various schemes for capacity development for increasing public awareness. The speech educated me about the fact that social innovation from the perspective of corporate culture is engaged in poverty alleviation, clean energy and education and rural advancement. I have wrong belief about the fact that very less amount of young people are parts of the social enterprises. Ehon Chans view enlightens my perspective and at the same time has encouraged me. Panel discussion: E-Commerce in APAC - An Explosive Opportunity Marc Woos impactful speech on E-commerce has not only enchanted the entire audience but also has successfully attracted an impressive number of young audiences to take serious interest into E-commerce. According to his perspective, the APAC is growing in a fast pace and gradually becoming a hub of E-Commerce. Moreover, it has been fortunate to note from the speech that the this particular region is becoming one of the largest business-to-business commercial market as it has acquired near about $US770 billion in terms of a healthy turn over. As per Woos perspective, I have been educated that in the next five years the opportunities related to the E-Commerce is going to have a lucrative bloom through which countries like China and India would be gaining impressive shares. These two territories will be fortunate to have the share through the expense of the advanced market of Japan and South Korea. I have little less idea about the matter that social commerce or specifically e-commerce in the Asia-pacific zone will increase in a developing country like India. Furthermore, I should acknowledge that I have come to know that among the international and developed countries, Australia is considered as the biggest online shoppers for the region. Panel session: Corporate Entrepreneurship Responsibility With the speech of Melissa Foo who has caught the eyes of a good number of audiences, has enlightened my vision regarding the concept of Corporate Entrepreneurship Responsibility (CER). Before encountering the speech, I have misconception about the concept of CER, as I could not distinguish between CSR (Corporate social responsibility) and CER. I should acknowledge Foos speech that highlighted the fact that CER is an organizational structure, which fruitfully assists the projects designed by young and enthusiastic entrepreneurs. Corporate Entrepreneurship Responsibility taken up by the leading organizations are opening the door for being successful for the young entrepreneurs of the country. Organizations are strongly acknowledging the fact that most of the innovative business ideas come from the young minds. Most significantly, implementing strong CER policies is one of the most valid ways to support social innovation. Overall experience It can be concluded that social innovation is progressing from the corporate perspective as the number of strategies regarding CER is growing in an impressive rate. My concern has been mainly to gather knowledge regarding E-Commerce and I should adhere that my views has been improvised as I came to know a handful of significant data. Information like, Australia is the biggest shopper and this distinct region is becoming a leading spot of E-Commerce has encouraged me to consider this sector to be one of the potential hubs for employment in near future. Portfolio Rohingya people of Malaysia are seeking education and employment rights It is our problem Synopsis Malaysias one of the most victimized minorities the Rohingyas has probably come across a glimpse of hope of achieving employment and education rights after Najib Razak has actively articulated about their cause. It is fortunate that after prolonged negligence, the education right for the Rohingya people has finally found the possibility to be a reality (channelnewsasia.com 2016). A pilot scheme through the collaboration between the Malaysian government and UNHCR is expected to solve the crucial cause of unemployment of the Rohingyas. Background It has been my luck to join the rally on Sunday where the prime minister delivered an emphatic speech for the solidarity of the Rohingyas. The rally has strongly banged on the Aung San Suu Kyi (channelnewsasia.com 2016). The speech has cleared the view for the Malaysian society that the country could not stay reluctant about this particular prosecuted society. Therefore, it is understandable enough that Rohingya children and the eligible individuals would not have to suffer long for disagreeable deprivation. It can be opined that the appeal came from Faisal Islam Muhammad; the honorable president of the society of Rohingya has finally worked in favor, as the prime minister seems to have taken the issue of illiteracy of the Rohingya children with utmost priority. What I have learnt It has been my fortune to attend the rally, which has cleared several views regarding the current decision of the Myanmars ministry of immigration to ban issuing licenses for its national inhabitants to work in the territory of Malaysia. I have come across the fact that a disappointing number of Rohingya individual are working illegally in construction site. However, the participation in the rally has taught me that the privileged inhabitants of Malaysia could not stay ignorant about the adverse condition of the Rohingya individuals. Malaysia is now obliged to terminate crack down on the Bersih activities Synopsis It has turned to be almost compulsion for the Malaysian government to give deadline upon the Bersih activities. The campaign for electoral reforms and anti-corruption has been heavy handedly brutalized by the Malaysian police a day before the rally (www.amnesty.org 2016). As per the deputy director of the Amnesty International of South East Asia, such an unforgivable act should be penalized and the arrested chairperson of Bersih community should be released immediately. Background I particularly feel privileged for previously attending the rally that has taken place at the month of August. It has been from that moment of time when the Malaysian authority and the police had executed the plan to arrest the honorable Maria Chin Abdullah, the current chairperson of the coalition Bersih. It has been a anti-government yet peaceful rally for ending the prolonged corruption and for fostering the electoral reform. The administrative and legal authorities of Malaysia have been claiming that the organizers of the rally should be penalized under the act of Peaceful assembly (www.amnesty.org 2016). The prime cause of the penalty is supposed to be not paying heed to provide a notice prior to ten days of the rally. What I have learnt I have perceived that the government should have revised their plan to arrest the guilty individuals, because there has been less cause for penalty as per the fact that it has been a harmless act for human right. Moreover, the government could not neglect the fact that the country is running under high corruption and has been giving less concentration on the need of electoral reform. It is astonishing to realize that the Malaysian authorities has shown reluctance on the non-state actors and has violently shown anguish upon the reputed activists. Mergers In Communication Industry Essays - Verizon Communications

Mergers In Communication Industry ?Governments should discourage mergers in the communication industry.? Our group will be disagreeing with this statement through out the project. We will be using texts and examples in order to support our ideas. Also we will be using reasoning and common sense in some cases. Our group believes the most important mergers in the communication industry are the telecommunication companies'. Bell Atlantic and GTE are the two big mergers in the industry and are a good example for our case. This merge has brought benefits to workers, consumers and communities. The Communications Workers of America (CWA) represents 630,000 workers who are also consumers of telecommunications services. The majority of CWA members are employed in the telecommunications industry, including 72,000 employees at Bell Atlantic and 25,000 employees at GTE. CWA is the leading union in the information age whose members are responsible for building, maintaining, and servicing customers on the information highway. CWA seeks to ensure that the new information world brings benefits to all consumers, workers, and communities. CWA urges the Commission to approve the Bell Atlantic and GTE merger because it will benefit both consumers and workers. CWA believes the merger is in the public interest for five reasons. First, it advances the pro-competitive goals of the 1996 Telecommunications Act (the 1996 Act) in local exchange markets for all consumer markets. Bell Atlantic and GTE have committed to enter 21 markets out-of-region within 18 months after the merger. Second, the proposed merger advances the 1996 Act's goal to speed deployment of advanced telecommunications networks to all Americans. The merger will provide Bell Atlantic and GTE with the scale and scope necessary to accelerate in-region and out-of-region investment in advanced data networks. Third, the merger is consistent with the 1996 Act's goal to advance and to preserve affordable, quality service to all Americans. Fourth, the merger will stimulate the growth of high-quality new jobs as a result of the new investment that the merged company wi ll create in entering new markets as well as in deploying new technologies and services. Finally, the merger will enhance competition in the wireless and international markets. Wages are what a worker gets from money or solid appreciation of their work. This differs according to education and constitution the worker belongs to and works in. It is negotiable and thus the worker could offer more for his working time the more the appreciated he is and the effect of such behavior is the giving efficiently into the work done. If improperly done, the law has the right on the side of the customer and employer to cut down the wages until proven better in the way of handling the work(referring to the worker)if the worker does not efficiently prove him or herself worthy of the wages they get they are either fired or demoted or given a lesser salary or wages than the primary wages they have been given before the time of the inefficiency. The fact that workers could be differentiated among due to racial or religious backgrounds is uncontroversial but is not the purpose of this essay unless referred t o later on when wanted. When a worker deals with the surrounding environment they are affected upon and affect upon and this is directly proportional or inversely proportional according to the manner that the environment is dealt with and how the worker is dealt with. Recognizing Differences Essay Example for Free

Recognizing Differences Essay The following information will discuss the difference between valuation, depreciation, amortization and depletion. It will also discuss is it appropriate to calculate depreciation using two different methods? What is valuation? â€Å"The process of determining the current worth of an asset or company† (www.investopedia.com). For example if you bought a car a year ago the value of the car will go down. The reason the value goes down is because you have wear and tear on the car so it is not worth as much, so the valuation is looking at the asset (the vehicle) and figuring out how much it is worth after being used. What is Depreciation? â€Å"A method of allocating the cost of a tangible asset over its useful life. Businesses depreciate long-term assets for both tax and accounting purposes† (www.investopedia.com). The three classes used for depreciation is land improvements, buildings and equipment. If a piece of equipment is bought by a company for two million dollars and the company expects it to be used for 10 years, it will be depreciated over 10 years. This means that every accounting year the company would expense $200,000.00 (assuming the company uses straight-line depreciation). What is Amortization? â€Å"The paying off of debit in regular installments over a period of time† (www.investopedia.com). Amortization is the allocation of only intangible assets, such as copyrights or patents. For example if a company buys a piece of equipment for $45 million dollars and the patent for this equipment is 15 years, this means that $3 million would be recorded as an amortization expense each year. What is depletion? â€Å"An accrual accounting method that companies use to allocate the cost of extracting natural resources such as timber, minerals and oil from the earth† (www.investopedia.com). There are two types of depletion; percentage depletion and cost depletion. When a company is depleting timber the IRS required that the cost method is used. The IRS then required the method that yields the highest deduction to be used for mineral property, and oil from the earth. Yes, it is appropriate to calculate depreciation  using two different methods. Compan ies use the straight-line method on its financial statements for their plant assets. Companies can then use the accelerated method on their income tax return. A company can also be depreciating their equipment for ten years for their financial statements and for their income tax return they can use seven years. The Grim Grotto: Elements of Fiction :: essays research papers

There are many elements of fiction. All of them together are a recipe for the perfect story. There are five elements all together. They are conflict, setting, character, plot and theme. â€Å"The Grim Grotto† displays all of these elements with an exceptionally well written storyline. Conflict is a very significant factor of fiction. Without conflict there would be no story. The main conflict in â€Å"The Grim Grotto† is locating the sugar bowl and keeping it away from Count Olaf. The opposing forces are Count Olaf’s troupe and the Baudelaire orphans. This conflict was never resolved within the book. However, there are many subordinate conflicts in this story. The first subordinate conflict is finding Quigley Quagmire and meeting him at the last safe place. The conflict is in between the Baudelaire orphans and Count Olaf. This is the Baudelaire’s conflict. Another one is saving the youngest Baudelaire-Sunny from the poisonous Medusoid Mycelium. This is Sunny’s conflict because she is suffering from the Medusoid Mycelium. All of these conflicts were external conflicts because they are about characters against each other and not about emotions. I agree with the way that the characters try to solve the conflict because they refuse to give up on anything. They didn’t give up when they had to save Sunny or get away from the Medusoid Mycelium. â€Å"There must be something we can do to save Sunny. There just has to be something.† The importance of the conflict is huge. This is because the characters go to great lengths to try and get the sugar bowl. They travel underwater and go to the darkest of places to reach the sugar bowl. They go through numerous dangers just for a little sugar bowl. They go through the Medusoid Mycelium and a huge submarine just for a sugar bowl. You also know this because many characters, such as Captain Widdershins, Count Olaf and Quigley Quagmire say that this object is too important and secretive to reveal its purpose. The climax of this book is when Violet Klaus and Sunny are walking to the taxi parting with Mr. Poe. This is the climax of the book because this was the highest point of interest and appeal. The author, Lemony Snicket, uses details and delays the end to an extent where you become very anxious to read the story. Setting is an important aspect in some stories and less important in others.

Book Burning

Book Burning Book burning refers to the destruction of books and other written materials and it was usually done out in public. On May 10 the Nazi German students association gathered, books on the 300th anniversary of lathers 95 to hold a festival where they would burned books that the students found â€Å"Un-German, to cleanse by fire. They called it the action against the Un-German spirit. † Local chapters had to offer blacklists of â€Å"Un-German authors. They would burn about 25,000 books while throwing the books into the fire, there would be bands playing. In most university towns they would march in torchlight parades against the un-German spirit. Their book burning was a success in 34 universities across Germany it was all over the newspapers and was on radio broadcasts. Not all book burnings were held on May 10 as was planned because of the rain they had to postpone it. It was April, people hundreds of people would slowly walk around a book fair in germany. Nearly 70 years ago over a board plaza a huge bonfire was set in the middle of the square where they had destroyed 20,000 books that the Nazi had prohibited anyone to read.Hitler wanted to control the minds of the Germans that’s why he prohibited those types of books On May 10, 1933, one of the Nazi party members chief Joseph Goebbels marched down Unter den Linden in a torchlight parade. They came together and piled up books that they had collected from different places and the Nazis used their torches for a bright flaming fire. When people visit Bebelplatz they can see through a plastic window in the ground that view empty bookshelves of the 20,000 books burned on May 10, 1993. Germans will never forget the horrible fire on that day.On May 10, 1933 a crowd of 40,000 people gathered for the book burning while there was singing and bands playing. They watched soldiers, police, people from the German student association and the Hitler youth burn books that were â€Å"Un-German. † The books that were burnt in Berlin and more than 30 other university towns on that night had books by more than 75 German foreign authors. Some of them were Walter Benjamin, Albert Einstein, and Friedrich Engels etc. The burning of those books was to purify to a true German spirit. From that day people lit bonfires to end on phase in their lives or to elebrate burning unpopular textbooks by the of a course. They would also celebrate by burning their old papers. It is official that book burning has gained its extremely bad reputation Book burning was planned by students not the government. The Nazi vicious anti-Semitism and the book burnings made some people worry that Jews would be burnt next. The book burnings on May 10 became a powerful symbol of German barbarism. Books by Jews that expressed anything accursed or consigned to damnation or destruction to the Nazis reflected the Jewish spirit they should get rid of from bookstores and libraries. They also forbid some books from sc hools.Agencies made lists of all the books that had been forbidden but no government approved of the blacklist. There were about 6,843 forbidden books. The book burning was a public thing done by one Nazi student organization. The sixty fifth anniversary of the book burning in Berlin many authors not only Jews books were burnt in public. The student organization had planned it but they had the approval of the Nazi authorities. In other German universities book burning also took place some teachers from the universities took part in the book burning. Erich Kastner who witnessed the Berlin event had his own work being burnt as well.

George and Lennies relationship in my opinion is one like a father has with a son, George is always there for lennie, he cares for him and wants the best for him, and in his own way, Lennie feels the same and acts the same. The extract given, located at the start of the book in chapter one, is one that introduces George and Lennies dream to the reader as well as establishing to the reader the closeness of their relationship, without this part in the book, we would not understand how the two men are like father and son, or how they really do care for each other, and that is why this text is so significant to the text as a whole. This extract is about Lennie trying to get George to tell him the story about them in the future (their dream), and despite not wanting to at first, Lennie is clearly used to getting his own way and acts like a child in order to get so. George at the end of the extract however, shows his authority and is very firm when there has been enough, Steinbeck makes it obvious that the two have known each other for a long time as Lennie speaks ‘craftily’ and ‘pleaded’ in order to get his own way from George. Lennie has learnt during their time together how to make George give in. This is like a father son relationship because the child often knows how to treat their parents in order to get their own way, whether with a flutter of the eyelashes or a really nice hug, children know how to get their own way, and this is the case with Lennie. Another reason it is like a father son relationship is because George is giving Lennie Hope when he says ‘we got a future’, It is a parents job to give their child something to look forward to in a hard time and as it was the great depression when the novel is set, George does this excellently with the dream of the ranch. It gives Lennie something to dream about. It is also like a father son relationship, because it becomes clear from Steinbeck’s style of writing that George has told the story of the ranch and rabbits to Lennie so many times: â€Å"He repeated his words rhymetically† This shows that George has told the story enough times to Lennie that he knows it off by heart and Lennie, a forgetful character knows it also. This shows that George is once again like a father figure to lennie, telling him bedtime stories. Fathers and Sons know they have each other to look after them and this is what Lennie and George are also both aware of: â€Å"Because I got you to look after me† This shows that they are both aware of the close relationship they have and how they are both aware of how the other one appreciates them as much as they appreciate them. This is a nice part of the novel and it leaves the reader with a sense that not everything is bad. One of the themes of the book is loniness but this part here shows that it is not George or Lennie that experience this, or at least at the beginning. And finally, George makes it clear to the reader that he is the authoritive person in the relationship as he makes it clear when he â€Å"ain’t got time for no more†, he is the one that is in charge and Lennie seems to appreciate that. The fact that George is the authoritve figure is a good way to explain why he seems so tense and agitated in this extract: â€Å"you getta kick outta that†, because he feels like he is in charge of lennie, and doesn’t want him to do anything wrong or get into trouble, knda like when a parent takes their child shopping. It is clear form reading the extract that lennie is the child and George is the father figure, but they both appreciate and enjoy each others company. 6c) How does Steinbeck present the theme of loneliness in Of Mice and Men? Loneliness is one of the main themes of mice and men and that becomes apparent from early on in the novel. Almost all of Steinbeck’s characters experience loneliness at some part in the play, although some like Curley’s Wife, Crooks and Candy experience it more than others. Steinbeck makes it very clear at the beginging that the novel is going to be based on loneliness as the novel is set in a place cale ‘Soledad’ which means loneliness in Spanish, it is these small details that in my opinion makes Of Mice and Men, such a clever and valiable read. Curley’s wife is a character that it becomes more evident throughout the book is suffering from loneliness. She has married a man she hardly knew before and now is the only lady on the ranch, people are afraid to talk to her because they don’t want to get into trouble with Curley, the short tempered bosses son. Curley’s wife is seen as a tart by the ranch men, and are a main cause of her loniness. She often goes around asking for Curley and the men are very blunt and untalkative towards her. She tells Lennie of her loneliness: â€Å"I get awfully lonely†, This shows that she knows she is lonely and addimits she â€Å"just wants someone to talk to†, Steinback uses Curley’s wife as a character that experiences Lonliness that is very obvious to the reader as she admits it herself. Crooks is another character that experiences Lonliness and in my opinion, it is crooks that experiences Lonliness the most. Crooks is a Stable buck and is black, which in 1930’s America meant there was segregation. He lives on his own in the stables and is not allowed to join in with the other men. He is just expected to enjoy his own company and so he just reads books, which makes him a very knowledgeable character. Crooks character is not very signifivant in the play, but he has a whole chapter devoted to him nevertheless, he makes it clear when Lennie stumbles across his room that the life he is experiencing is one that is not right. Crooks describes his loneliness briefly, â€Å"if I see something, I aint go no one to tell me it aint real†, Steinbeck has used something so simple to show just how lonly crooks is. He literally has no one! Annother character that experiences loneliness is Candy. His ancient dog is shot for being smelly and ‘no good’, yet it was this dog that had kept candy from being lonly for all these years. When Steinbeck describes the dog being walked out of the bunck house by Carlson, Candy immediately goes into his own world of regret and lonlieness. No one understands why Candy is so upset because no one has experienced having someone. Also when candy is trying to stop Carlson from convincing him to shot the dog, none of the other ranch ahnds stick up for Cnady, instead they all keep quiet and don’t get involved. This shows that in of Mice and men, it is every man for himself and that is another example of loneliness. When George goes down town with the other ranch hands, it is Lennie that experiences Lonliness. He has always had George to keep him company, but when crooks asks â€Å"what would you do if George did’nt come back†, Lennie takes it literally and experiences loneliness for what could be lennies first time. Lennie immediately gets violent and this shows the reader how much lennie really needs George. And finally, George. George is in my opinion the only main character that we don’t get a sign experiences loneliness. Throughout the play he has Lennie to keep him company and soon builds up a friendship with both Candy and Slim, so that as soon as Lennie runs off he has these to then keep in company in the hard time. Steinback was very clever at presenting the theme of loneliness. Almost every character experiences it, yet it is not something that you notice overly when reading the book. Steinback managed to show diffenent levels of loneliness from Crooks who has no one, to Lennie who always has George looking after him, even to the last page in the book! Without the theme of loneliness in Of Mice and Men, the novel would not be the same. It is this loneliness that drives curley’s wife to talk to lennie before he kills her , and that causes George to understand he needs to kill lennie himself. The theme of lonlineness was also a theme of the workers during the great depression in America during the 1930’s. As migrant workers travelled from ranch to ranch to find jobs, never staying at one place long and travelling on their own, meant loneliness was experienced greatly, so Steinbeck managed to make his novel even more realistic by doing this.

Condom Distribution in High Schools essays

Condom Distribution in High Schools essays Condom distribution in Public Schools During our panel discussion on should condoms be distributed in public schools, I took the position of supporting the distribution. It is not that I agree with young teenagers having sex but the statistics show that 70 percent of all students are having sex before the age of eighteen. Therefore, if they are going to be engaging in sexual activity then condoms should be easily accessible. Sex is a difficult topic for teenagers to discuss with their parents and so it often not discussed. Teens want to have an open door policy starting at a young age with their parents and they dont want the lectures on sex. They want to be treated as adults and be allowed to make their own decisions with no pressure. However, many parents state they will not allow their daughters to be put on birth control pills. Knowing this, they chose other forms of contraceptives and condoms are the most popular form. If condoms were given distributed in their schools then at least the students would be protected while engaging in sex. Contraceptives arent easily accessible though. 63 percent of teenagers have to receive their protection at public clinics because only 33 percent of schools have health centers that provide contraceptives on site. 54 percent of students use condoms and more said they would if they were easier to get their hands on. Recent research indicates that in the United States, there has been a steady decline in adolescent pregnancy, abortion and birth rates since 1991, because sexually active teenagers are becoming more effective users of contraceptives. There has also been a reported 1.7 million adolescent pregnancies averted by the use of contraceptives. I believe that there could be many more if schools would make condoms easily available to the students. Along with the distribution, there also needs to be more information on sex, bodies, pregnancy and STDs given ...

Philosophy of Nursing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1

Philosophy of Nursing - Essay Example From this essay it is clear that the patient is a recipient of care, including physical, spiritual, psychological, and socio-cultural components. The nurse–client relationship is a connection intended to improve the well- being of a customer, which may be an individual, a family, community, or a group. Peplau's hypothesis is of high importance to the medical attendant customer relationship, with one of its important perspectives being that both the medical caretaker and the customer turn out to be more educated and develop through the span of their relationship. He trusted that the relationship relied on upon the collaboration of the contemplations, emotions, and activities of every individual and that the patient will experience better well-being when all their particular needs are met in their relationship.According to the report findings the environment is all inner and outside conditions, circumstances, and impacts influencing the individual wellbeing.   Difficult circum stances led to ill health and diseases, for instance, cholera. The environment could be altered to improve conditions so that the natural laws would allow healing to occur. Florence Nightingale’s Legacy of caring Focuses on nursing and the patient environment relationship. She served as a medical caretaker amid the Crimean War, at that time she watches a relationship between the patients who kicked the bucket and their ecological conditions. As an aftereffect of her perceptions, the Environment Theory of nursing was conceived.Â
